A New House…

…is in our immediate future!
We are (God willing) closing on a house at 7:00 AM Monday. I am so excited! But every minute of my days have been spent purging/packing/cleaning/etc.

I suppose we’ve done some other stuff too. Wanna see?

Of course you do.

Moving

If you’re wondering what I’ve been up to, the answer is “getting ready to move”.  Yeah, we found out a few weeks ago that our landlord is moving into our house, and we have to leave!  Thus began the mad dash to find someplace that will accomodate our multiple pets and our awesomeness in general.  The only logical answer, it seems, is to (try to) buy a house.  Say a prayer that it works out; we put in an offer for the house of my dreams yesterday!  Added stress: we only have til the end of August to find/buy/rent/move.  Blehhhh.

Anyway, I’ve been dreaming about my new house and scouring the internets for decor inspiration.  Thought I’d round up some of my favorites.

I am OBSESSED WITH this Danish company, Bungalow.  I’ve been kinda into Indian motifs and patterns lately, and I am just super bummed that there are no US stores that carry this brand.  Ugh!

Woodside Block Print Curtain; Urban Outfitters

Gypsy Chandelier; Urban Outfitters

I would put almost anything from Urban Outfitters in my house.  Cliché, I know.

Green Knot Garden Indoor Bed from Kiss My Mutt.  This stuff is so cute and trendy.  Also, their name is adorable.  I’m a fan of pretty much anyone who likes mutts.  (Did I ever mention that I really love mutts?)

Hmm, interesting.  I like it.  Electric Garden Charging Station from ModCloth.

Also falling into the “Foreign Things that I Like” category are these Moroccan Lanterns from Pier 1.

Loooove pretty throw pillows.  Henna Green from etsy seller MyFabsLab.

Even though this is sold out, I want one.  Cast Iron Deer Door Knocker from etsy seller Mechanical Stag.

My Day Off

My day off has hardly begun but it is bursting with possibilities. I started the day reading my blogs and drinking coffee with my favorite puppers:

I love to go outside at lunch. People shouldn’t have to sit inside all day!

But I got ants in my pants. Literally. I sat on an anthill. They’re in my purse and everything. Bummer.

Yesterday I got together with a fellow ukulelist to fiddle (ukulele?) around and talk about crafting and art-ing. Lori, a henna artist who I met at a bellydancing festival, shares the same tendency to collect hobbies. It was really nice to hang out with her. It reminded me of the strap I made for my uke (this is my latest acquisition, a Samick Tenor ukulele. I’m not real familiar with brands or anything, but I found this at a local music store after searching for a tenor for awhile.)

Ukuleles are not really designed for a strap, and unlike a guitar, you can’t really drill into the bottom to install that attachment thingie (as far as I know, anyway).
This is a piece of pretty ribbon sewn onto a wide cotton strap, and leather ends with grommets. The grommets are attached to a tie at the neck and a hook on the bottom. I’d like to do a tutorial eventually.

Added bonus: my ukulele-playing dashboard hula girl.

About halfway through this peyote pattern purchased from etsy seller LoveliesFromMihana. I highly recommend her!

I caught the bag-making bug again today. I went down to JoAnn’s with a birthday gift card and came home with some pretty new fabrics. I started with a tiny coin purse. I want to attach it to my keychain but I fear it will become ridiculously dirty.
Please excuse the poor lighting in my basement. I didn’t finish this till about 9.

This too

I almost forgot this one, which I finished a few weeks ago. It’s a 3-drop peyote bracelet – I purchased the pattern from etsy seller time2cre8. Here is the link to the pattern; she has about of really beautiful jewelry. I used Toho Treasure beads which seem very similar to Delicas, but I can’t get them at Joann or Michael’s anymore. They were all clearanced out!!

Hey all. I’m writing this from my new iPhone 4! I’m hoping this will equal more blog posts.
I’ve been dabbling in beadwork since my arm got bad. it’s definitely better now, but I’m trying to expand my crafting horizons to avoid any repetitive movement related issues. Here is my latest completed project – a herringbone bracelet made from Delicas and Czech fire-polished beads:
